When is Trigun movie going to be released?

TrigunFinally, it sees the light of day. What am I going on about? The Trigun movie, of course! It looks like it's been four years in the making but it is going to be released for fans all over to enjoy. I came across a clip for the movie; it was apparently shown at Anime Expo 2009.

Well, the trailer/clip definitely looks good. The art work has been jazzed up and thus, looks modern. Don't worry, it still appears to retain the essence of each character and the basic storyline. Where the basic storyline is concerned, this is apparently an original story derived from/based on/inspired by the popular anime series.

By the way, it looks like the good folks behind the movie have been handing out little tidbits of information about the movie over the past months. According to this source, there was a useful bit of trivia  donning the cover of  Vol. 14 of Trigun Maximum. It basically lists the names of the story writers (Yasuhiro Nightow and Nishimura Satoshi) as well as that of the one penning the script. And for those who are wondering, it seems like the movie is set for 2009 release (this is a change from previous rumors I heard about it being a 2010 release).

By the way, is anyone else wondering why the phrase 'Vash v.s Wolfwood' is the selling point for this movie? I guess this is a match/fight-off that fans have been waiting for. It just gives me a deceptively weird idea about Mortal Kombat style duel. We know it won't come to that ... right?
