How fantastic is that??A shiny new robot that can whip up pancakes. The robot in question is Motoman SDA10 and it is a hefty looking piece of machinery that, oddly enough, reminds me of Bender. I'm not about to be put off by this similarity; the "I no longer have to cook" option outweighs any possible Bender-style deviations.
The robot itself was displayed at the ?International Food Machinery and Technology Exhibition in Tokyo. Apparently he mixes all the items together, in his own slow-paced, precise way and then voila starts heating things up. I meant using the pan; as you can see, I am not much of a cook here. Seems like the robot will add the toppings you want and then kind of slide the finished dish in your direction. Sounds like a good deal to me.
One thing I am unsure of is the actual taste. When you cook/make something, don't you sometimes taste the mix to ensure it has the right amount of salt etc etc? Of course this only implies to certain dishes; most dishes should be easy to make without any such tasting adventures.
The robot is quite petite (4.5 feet) with rather sleek joints. Sure, it is a bit bulky at certain points but am sure they are toning it down. Unless the muscular master chef is the ultimate aim of the creator. This handy little guy was made by Toyo Riki Co. Certainly looks like the good folks in Japan are adamant about integrating robots into our daily lives, doesn't it? Not that I am complaining; certain bureaucratic tasks should proceed faster.
