Christmas Tree Made of Fish
A Christmas tree made of sardines? How does that work? Well, it's not quite how you imagine it. There's no dodgy seawater plant towering above everyone, a tree which consists of tiny dangling fish, twisted into awkward shapes. Rather, think of sardines in a huge fish tank that swim around in fancy little formations creating a …. Christmas tree!
The show itself is called 'Christmas Super Iwashi (sardines) Illusion' and it involves 50,000 odd fish in the spacious tank in Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, Japan. It sounds like a complicated maneuver. First, folks at the aquarium start by depositing a whole lot of fish food into the tank. Then the eager little guys swim and swirl around the fish, creating an impressive display. This is enhanced by blue and green lights that folks light over the tank. This is key to showcasing the tree created by sardines. Or something to that effect. The end result is not a clear cut tree but it is impressive nonetheless. Whatever the case, it seems to be quite popular amongst folks at the moment.
What was funny was the guy dressed up as Santa from the same aquarium. Check it out in the video. You'll find someone dressed as the big jolly guy feeds larger fish from his toy sack. At least the big guys looked happy. Admittedly, there was a rather curious seal hovering nearby.
This Christmas theme will be displayed a few times at the aquarium all the way until the 25th.
